Last Tuesday afternoon, Macik earned a double-double against Richards, scoring 11 points and pulling down 15 rebounds in the win. Macik also had 13 rebounds in the Snook loss to Smithville.

The Somerville Yeguas lost their opener to Lexington 55-48 last Friday in Lexington. The Yeguas were originally scheduled to open at Brazos, but the Cougars are still in the football playoffs so the Lexington game was substituted.

The Somerville Junior High School girls basketball team fell to Mumford last week 19-32. Somerville’s leading scorer was J. Isom with eight points. Other scorers for the Lady Yeguas were: V. Hernandez, five points; K. Ellis, two points; L. Ellis, four points.

Hornets hold on for 54-52 home thriller over Salado

The Caldwell Hornets kept their poise in a tight game, sinking some key free throws in the final minutes, to hold on for a 54-52 home win over Salado last Friday in Caldwell. The Hornets got their first win of the season and improved to 1-2 overall.
