Hornets play tough on defense, fall to Giddings

Despite their strongest defensive game of the year, the Caldwell Hornets fell to Giddings 17-7 last Friday in Giddings. The Hornets fell to 0-9 for the season and 0-4 in district play while Giddings improved to 2-7 and 1-3 in league play.

Snook rallies, but falls to Yorktown 54-28

The Snook Bluejays rallied in the second and early third quarters but were unable to overcome Yorktown’s steady ground game in a 54-28 home loss last Friday. The Bluejays fell to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in District 14-2A Division II, eliminating them from playoff contention.

Volleyball playoffs begin this week

After Snook volleyball won Round 2 of the Burleson County Showdown, Snook and Somerville had a “playin” match to see which team would advance to the UIL Class 2A Volleyball Playoffs -- with the Lady Yeguas winning. See more on this week’s Sports Page.

Caldwell falls to state ranked Cuero

It was a long night for Caldwell against state-ranked Cuero as the Gobblers’ offense amassed 582 total yards, 418 rushing, in a 77-0 win. Caldwell fell to 0-8 for the season as Cuero improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in district play.
