Hornets defeat Fairfield in two games

The Caldwell Hornets defeated Fairfield 8-5 and 5-2 last Friday, May 6, in the bi-district playoff series. Caldwell (19-11) will face Lorena (23-3), ranked number six in the state, in the area playoff this Thursday, May 12 and Friday, May 13 at Georgetown East View High School.

UIL state track, golf information

Caldwell High School will be represented at the UIL State Track & Field Meet this Thursday, May 12, and at the UIL Girls Golf Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, May 16-17. The state track meet will be at Mike. A Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.

Somerville falls to Evadale in playoff

The Somerville Yeguas lost to Evadale in two games -- 15-3 and 11-1 in a bi-district playoff series held on Friday, May 6, in Willis. Somerville surrendered eight runs in the first inning before getting their first run in the top of the fourth inning to make it 8-1.

Award winners were announced for Somerville High School on Thursday, May 5, at the annual athletic banquet for the 2021-22 school year. The Male Athlete of the Year was Verkobe Woodberry, and the Co-Female Athletes of the Year were Ra’Maya Carter and Camia Martin.
