Snook loses to Iola in final two district games

The Snook Bluejays lost their final two games of the season to Iola -- 10-0 and 14-0 on Tuesday, April 21, in Mumford.In game one, Snook was held to no hits and had 2 errors, and Iola finished with 7 hits and no errors.
During the Lady Hornets’ bi-district win last week, Meadows was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, including a triple and a double. She scored three runs and had six RBIs.

Somerville Girls Majors place third at Little Dribblers nationals

The Somerville Continental Girls Majors team recently placed third at the Little Dribblers National Basketball Tournament in Franklin.The team beat West Sabine 38-11 in the first round game, and then edged out Martins Mill 30-28 in the next round.

Vykukal punches ticket to UIL State Tennis Tourney

Caldwell sophomore Landon Vykukal earned a spot in the UIL Class 4A State Tennis Tournament by placing third in boys singles at the Class 4A Region 3 Tournament in Bryan and then winning the playin match to qualify for the state tournament.

The Somerville Yeguas lost in their two-game series with Mumford last week -- 14-1 on Tuesday, April 14, at home and 11-0 on Friday, April 17, in Mumford.The Yegaus fell to 4-19 overall and 1-9 in district play.

Ellis, Ferguson qualify for regional track meet

Caldwell track and field athletes Spencer Ellis and Lucy Ferguson have qualified for the UIL Class 4A Region 3 Track & Field Meet which will be held May 1-2 at Bullard High School.Ellis qualified in both the boys 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs.Ellis won the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:42.98.

Valdez, Leyva lead Hornets in All-District soccer selections

Seven Hornet soccer players were recently named to the District 24-4A Boys All-District Soccer Team.Alberto Valdez and Reymon Leyva led the Hornets in All-District selections by being named to the First Team.Second Team selections were Jonathon Serna and Caleb Rackel.

The Snook Bluejays lost to Round Top-Carmine in a Wednesday, April 15, doubleheader in Snook, 3-1 and 13-1.The loss dropped Snook to 2-13 overall and 2-8 in district play.In game one, the game was scoreless through five innings before RTC scored 3 runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Snook’s Norwood plays at regional golf tourney

Snook High School senior Alberto Norwood competed on April 13-14 at the Region 4-2A Golf Tournament in Gabe Lozano Golf Course in Corpus Christi.Norwood shot a 109 on the first day and a 95 on the second day.
