The Lady Yeguas with an 8-2 record have broken into the recent Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) Class 2A poll -- in at Number 25. And, getting win number eight was not easy, with Sealy -- a Class 4A school on the schedule.

Yeguas fight hard, fall to Thorndale 63-51

The Somerville Yeguas varsity boys lost to state-ranked Thorndale 63-51 last Tuesday, Dec. 21, in Somerville. The Yeguas kept it close through much of the game, trailing 16-12 after the first quarter, 28-26 at halftime and 45-40 after three quarters.

Lady Jays fall to Fayetteville

The Lady Jays hosted Fayetteville last Tuesday, falling to the Lady Lions 42-23. After a low scoring first quarter, both offenses came alive to end the first half with Fayetteville leading 16-11. The Lady Lions outscored Snook in the second half 26-12 for the 19-point win.

Lady Hornets ranked #22 in latest TGCA Class 3A poll

For the first time in many years, the Lady Hornet basketball team has been ranked as one of the top teams in the state. Caldwell with its 13-4 season record is ranked Number 22 in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) Class 3A poll.

Yeguas finish 2nd at Koppers Tournament

The Somerville Yeguas went 2-1 at the Koppers Basketball Tournament last weekend on their home court -- defeating Cornerstone Academy and Moulton before falling to Aggieland Home School in the finals. Somerville defeated Cornerstone Academy 78-26 on Thursday, Dec.

The Lady Yeguas traveled to Hearne last Friday, falling to the Lady Eagles 47-27. Somerville is 7-2 following the loss. Ra’Maya Carter was back in the lineup for Somerville, after being out with an injury. She led the team in scoring with 11 points.
