Lady Hornets beat Rockdale in another marathon match

The Lady Hornets went 1-1 last week, beating Rockdale at home in a five-set marathon match and losing to Rogers on the road. The score for marathon against the Lady Tigers was 25-22, 17- 25, 25-20, 18-25, 15- 10.

CHS 9th grade VB loses 3 matches

The Caldwell Lady Hornet freshman squad lost its last three matches. Back on Sept. 7, Caldwell fell to Bellville in three sets 22-25, 25- 20, 10-15. Then, the Lady Hornet ninth-graders played the Franklin JV on Sept. 10, losing 25-22, 25-21.

Hornets fall to Royal on late touchdown pass 26-20

Caldwell used a balance offensive attack to compile 456 total yards last Friday at Brookshire Royal, but the Hornets secondary gave up some key passing yardage, including a TD pass in the final seconds, in a 26-20 loss.

Trnka, Broussard capture Kolache Krunch open titles

Caldwell High School graduate Kymberlee Trnka once again was the fastest female runner in the Kolache Krunch 5K. The Burleson County Aggie Moms’ Club hosted this year’s race on Saturday, Sept. 11, prior to the opening ceremonies of the Kolache Festival. Trnka’s time of 20:22.

After a tough home loss to Bellville last Tuesday to finish nondistrict play, the Lady Hornets bounced back to open district with a win over Florence. The Lady Hornets won in straight sets over the Lady Buffs 25-17, 25-7, 25-17 in front of the Caldwell faithful.

Hornet tennis falls to Cameron Yoe in district

In the district opener, the Hornet tennis team fell to Cameron Yoe 8-11 last Thursday evening at Sam Rayburn Middle School in Bryan.

Caldwell JV volleyball wins district opener

After losing their final non-district game to volleyball powerhouse Bellville, the junior varsity Lady Hornets bounced back to open district with a home win over Florence on Friday. The Lady Hornets beat the Lady Buffs in straight sets 25-20, 25-10. No stats were available at press time.
