Yeguas look for winning season, playoff berth

The Somerville Yeguas are looking for a winning season this year, a playoff berth and their first playoff win since 2006. And they have the talent to do it.

Lady Jays start season 2-6

The Lady Jays began their volleyball season last week with a 2-6 record, including going 2-4 at the Franklin Tournament over late last week.

Yeguas play Hearne tough in scrimmage

The Somerville Yeguas wanted a strong early test in their scrimmage last Friday with Hearne, and they got it. The always speedy and athletic Eagles scored once in the scrimmage and twice in a live quarter while holding the Yeguas scoreless. But that didn’t tell the whole story.

Lady Hornets beat Leon to open 2021 season

As Caldwell does every year, the Lady Hornets opened the 2021 season against Leon last Tuesday. Head coach Jane Anne Giese said, “Every year that I have been in Caldwell, we open with this match. Leon is a tradition-rich school and the competition is so important to help us prepare for the season.

Hornets looks sharp in scrimmage with Robinson

New Caldwell Head Coach Boone Patterson said he was impressed with his team’s effort in a Friday, Aug. 13, road scrimmage at Robinson. Each team scored one touchdown in the scrimmage, with Caldwell’s Jace Aly scoring on a 75-yard run. There was also one 15-minute live quarter.

CHS JV Vball falls to Leon

The season opener for the junior varsity Lady Hornet volleyball squad resulted in a loss to Leon on the road in straight sets 23-25, 16-25. Game stats of note included: Caitlyn Faust, four kills, four digs and a 2.

Snook improves after slow start against Normangee

The Snook Bluejays took a while to get going in their Friday, Aug. 13, home scrimmage with Normangee. Snook was outscored 2-0 in the controlled scrimmage portion but scored one TD in the live quarter and made the extra point for a 7-0 lead in the live quarter.

Snook ISD offers meals to students at no cost

Snook Independent School District is announcing its policy that this school year healthy meals will be offered every school day to all students at no cost. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
