Somerville man charged with murder

A Fayette County Grand Jury has indicted a Somerville man on charges of murder and aggravated assault mass shooting in the April 26 shooting death of a Snook man at a Fayette County trail ride.

Fire burns pasture, hay off F.M. 1361

A fire burned about 15 acres of a hay pasture, including six rolled bales and some recently cut hay not yet baled, late Monday, June 1, off F.M. 1361 along Davidson Creek.The cause of the fire is unknown, but it is believed to be accidental, according to the Snook Volunteer Fire Department.

Local baker Dannille Knowlton hosted a bake sale benefitting Haven Animal Rescue of Texas (HART) at the Caldwell Civic Center parking lot on Saturday, May 23.Knowlton said she heard of the organization’s fundraising need in building its new facility and wanted to do what she could to help out.

Man charged in assault case

A 40-year-old Bastrop man was arrested on Thursday morning, May 21, on a felony assault charge in connection with an attack on a woman on County Road 342.

Man arrested on boating while intoxicated charge

ACat Springs man was arrested on Friday, May 22, at Lake Somerville on a charge of boating while intoxicated with a child passenger.John Charles Rabius was charged with the state jail felony and is now free on $3,500 bond, according to the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office.
