Sheriff seeks pay raise for deputies

Sheriff Bill Rios requested a $130,000 budget increase from the county to fund a $2/hour increase in pay for deputies, a dispatch supervisor and an administrative assistant at the Monday, Aug. 24 commissioners court meeting.

Caldwell ISD files written complaint against teacher

The Caldwell ISD school board moved to file a written complaint with the State Board for Educator Certification regarding abandonment of a teacher contract after an executive session to consult with an attorney on the matter at its Monday, Aug. 25, meeting.

Man charged in unauthorized use of truck

A Montgomery man was arrested by the DPS on Thursday, Aug. 13, on a felony unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charge after several law enforcement agencies pursued him along State Highway 36 South to Park Road 4 off F.M. 60.

Woman charged in bond violation

A Somerville area woman was arrested on a felony charge of violating her bond during a Friday, Aug. 14, disturbance call on Park Road 4.Daelynda Josonja Rios, 33, was charged and is now free on $10,000 bond, according to the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office.

Man charged in drug possession

A Caldwell man was arrested early Sunday, Aug. 16, on a felony possession of a controlled substance charge after a Caldwell police traffic stop on South Porter Street.

Somerville ISD ends Phase 2 bond bidding

Bidding has ended for Phase 2 of Somerville ISD’s bond construction.Somerville ISD Superintendent Eric Holton told the Somerville School Board the bidding is complete and evaluations of those bids are now in progress during the board’s Aug. 12 regular meeting.
