A funeral service for Mary Jane Hoover, 78, of Somerville, was held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2026, at Strickland’s Funeral Home in Somerville.
She was born on July 29, 1948, in Madison Mills, Ohio, to Leroy and Medrith Kuhn.
She was married to Russell Hoover in February of 1972.
Mary will be remembered for her quiet strength, homemade cooking, love for shopping and watching old westerns.
She dedicated her life to raising her children, grandchildren and creating a welcoming home to all.
She was an active member of the Red Hat Society.
As her granddaughter would say, “Memaw is as tough as stale corn bread.”
Her family is grateful for the kindness and support during this time.
She died on Aug. 11, 2026.
She is survived by four daughters; one son; 15 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; two brothers; and two nieces.
