2 die in truck, car crash at SH 36, F.M. 60

Two Corpus Christi women died on Sunday afternoon, July 19, in a truck-car collision at the intersection of State Highway 36 South and F.M. 60 East.

Woman dies from gunshots

A woman died on Wednesday after being shot twice at a home on 375 Maple Drive at Cade Lakes, and the shooter left the scene, was stopped by responding law officers on State Highway 21 West and shot himself.Leticia Gaytan, 38, and Everardo Armenta, 47, address unknown, were transported to St.

Fire damages home in Cooks Point area

A fire starting in an attached garage spread to a home on Thursday morning, July 16, at 2460 F.M. 1362 South in the Cooks Point area and burned it down.The cause of the fire is unknown, but no foul play is suspected, said Cooks Point Fire Department Chief Larry Odstrcil.

County sales tax shows increase in July

Sales tax revenues showed an increase for July 2026 from June 2025 for Burleson County in Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock’s latest monthly report.And, the cities of Caldwell and Somerville also showed increases, while the City of Snook showed a slight decrease.

POSGCD to discuss DFCs for GMA 12, GMA 8

The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) was to continue discussions at its Tuesday, July 14, meeting on the fourth round of planning for Desired Future Conditions (DFCs) for Groundwater Management Areas 12 and 8.

Somerville to consider ordinance update

The Somerville City Council was to consider approval on Tuesday, July 28, of an updated manufactured home ordinance, aligning it with the city’s current zoning for residential mobile homes and to comply with new state law.
