Bus driver dies during route on County Road 140

A Caldwell School District bus driver died on early Friday, April 24, while driving the bus with two students along County Road 140.Gary Gaudin, 72, of Caldwell, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Health Burleson Hospital in Caldwell by Burleson County Pct.

Commissioners approve vehicle donation to HART

Burleson County commissioners approved the donation of a vehicle from the Sheriff ’s Office to Haven Animal Rescue of Texas (HART) at the Monday, April 27, commissioners court meeting.The vehicle is a silver 2016 Tahoe with about 135,000 miles, previously used as an investigator’s vehicle.

Man charged in felony assault

A Somerville area man was arrested on Wednesday, April 22, on a felony assault charge in connection with an April 15 attack on a woman.Lance Aaron Floyd Roth, 37, was charged with assault with a previous conviction, according to the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office.

Man charged in forgery case

A Caldwell man was arrested on Wednesday, April 22, on a felony forgery charge in connection with the passing of two checks in Giddings.James Bernard Dawson, 34, was charged, according to the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office.

Caldwell school board holds budget workshop

The Caldwell ISD schoolboard held the first of two budget workshops during its Monday, April 27, meeting.The second budget workshop will take place during the board’s Monday, May 18, meeting, while the public hearing on the budget will take place on Monday, June 22.

RRC issues no new oil, gas permits in February

The Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) issued no new oil well drilling permits in Burleson County in February.The RRC report is for newly approved permits in the county, not for drill sites which were previously permitted.
