Woman dies in fire at SW trailer

An 83-year-old woman died on Friday, July 24, in a fire that destroyed her home in Somerville Place Subdivision off Park Road 4, and the cause of the fire remains unknown and under investigation.

Man charged in agg assault case

A Somerville man was arrested on Monday, July 27, on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge in connection with an attack on another man with a fence post.

Woman charged in forgery case

An Austin woman was arrested on Thursday, July 16, on Burleson County sheriff ’s warrants for stealing/receiving a stolen check and forgery of a financial instrument.Ruth Ray Flores, 35, was charged and is now free on $7,500 bond, according to the sheriff ’s office.

A Bryan woman was arrested on Wednesday, July 15, on a felony charge of unlawful disclosure or promotion of intimate visual material.Virginia Nicole Smith, 23, was charged with the state jail felony and is now free on $2,500 bond, according to the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office.
